   Gerhana adalah fenomena astronomis yang terjadi ketika benda langit bergerak ke dalam bayangan tubuh langit lainnya. Eclipse terbagi menjadi 2, yaitu: gerhana matahari dan bulan.

    Gerhana matahari terjadi saat bulan berada pada posisi antara Bumi dan Matahari sehingga menutupi sebagian atau seluruh cahaya matahari. Gerhana matahari dapat dibagi menjadi tiga jenis: gerhana matahari total, gerhana matahari parsial, gerhana matahari dan cincin. Gerhana matahari dikatakan sebagai gerhana total saat puncak gerhana, cakram Matahari yang seluruhnya ditutup oleh cakram Bulan, gerhana terjadi saat cakram sebagian Bulan (puncak gerhana) hanya menutupi sebagian cakram matahari. Dan gerhana cincin terjadi saat cakram bulan (puncak gerhana) hanya menutupi bagian cakram Matahari. Gerhana jenis ini terjadi saat Bulan berukuran piring lebih kecil dari cakram matahari.

    Gerhana bulan terjadi ketika sebagian atau keseluruhan penampang ditutupi oleh bayangan bumi.
